The Screen
fcKxcu-c Mo," at Cratcrlun.
A solid hour of hilarity and then
some Is promised Hunt's Craterian
audience for tomorrow and Monday,
when they attend the showing of "Ex
cuse Me," the Rupert Hughes laugh
ing hit, which has Norma Shearer,
Conrad Nagel and Walter Hlers as its
stars. Hughes wrote "Excuse Mc" n
decade ago. After a great vogup In
book form it was presented on the
stage and proved on of the most
popular farces ever sent on tour. AVU
11s Sweatnam, In the role of tho Pull
man porter, was the first star of the
piece. His part, in the new film ver
sion, is played by Walter 1-liera.
"Checkers" Coming Tomorrow.
Another great stage play has reach
ed the screen and, as a film, bids fair
to eclipse all its previous records. This
time it is the famous Henry RlosHohi
play, "Checkers," the race-horse dra
ma in which Thomas W. Ross won so
much fame. Under tho title of "Gold
Heels." It is coming to the Uialto thea
ter tomorrow, as a William Fox spe
cial photodramatlc release with Rob
ert Agnew In the Ross part and Peggy
Shaw aa the heroine. According to
advance reports the racing scenes in
which tho unforgettable equine speed
king, "Remorse," wins spoctaculnrly,
are the most thrilling bita of action
ever shown on the screen.
Rex Reach's story of the Alaska
wilds, "The Iron Trail," closes to
night. tHinrlle's Aunt" Prove llil.
"Charlie's Aunt," tho comedy sen
sation of tho year, adopted from tho
internationally. famous Rrandon
Thomas farce, which has been playing
on the speaking stage for the last
thirty-three years, is now in its final
day at the Hunt's Craterian theater
where it has been a riotous success.
It is doubtful if any commedian,
even Syd Chaplin's famous brother,
Charlie, has ever so completely cap
tured the true comedy spirit and suc
ceeded in retaining it through the en
tire length of the film. Syd grasps
the comedy reins firmly ir. hla hnuds
and uot so much as even slackens
them until the lust shot has faded off
the screen.
The theme of the plot is a fine
wholesome story ' of youth with no
problems, no struggles against social
conditions, no psychological furors,
but merely a simple tory of a young
college man who is forced by his
classmates to don -the clothes which
