Five man-pack water cans, for,
use In fighting fire, were received
Monduj- at .the local forest service
office. These five-gallon cans arc
shaped and fitted with straps suit
able for packing on a niun's hack,
and equipped with hose and air pres-j
sure pump so that the water may
be thrown some distance.'
H. B, Rankin, supervisor of the
Crater National forest, states that j
this equipment will be especially
useful for putting out fire in snags
which throw sparks over the fire
line and which sometimes burn for
weeks after tho fire is controlled if
no means of extinguishing the fire
with water is available. I

for that month, which show n very
substantial increase of 12 per cent
over the receipts of April a year ago.
