Guards Who have been patrolling the
vicinity of the executive mansion of
Governor Nellie T. Ross have been
withdrawn, it developed last night but
the reason foe their vigil during. the
lost few days and.- nights, remained a
mystery.
M. C. Wachter, state law enforce
ment officer on- whose orders the
guards were placed, declared that cs-
pplogage that had aroused the cur 1-
oaiuy of all Cheyenne would cease ana

MEXICO CITY, April 16. Special
dispatches from Chihuahua report
that Mr. and Mrs. J. Reynolds, Brit
ish subjects, and Mr. and Mrs. W. J,
Cooper, Americans from Milwaukee,
were kidnaped Saturday while travel
ing by automobile from Lobo Qullla
to San Franclnco, Conchos, but that
they had been released and arc en
rou etto El Paso.
A bullet shattered the windshield
of the automobile when the party 'was
accosted and flying glass caused in
juries to Mr. Reynolds' head and
scratched Mrs. Cooper's face.
Sunday morning when the chauf
feur and Mr. Reynolds were sent to
secure ransom money but failed 'to

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.; April 16.
A driving rain which is valued at
many thousands of dollars, by live--.stock
men, was still falling through
out the Klamath basin today. The
rain started late yesterday and con
tinued throughout the night. It was
accompanied by thunder and light
ning this morning.
According to livestock operators
the rain already assures sufficient
water holes for range stock, as well
as -early range grass throughout the
basin.
