ball gamo Saturday night a number of

sun Hot Springs and enjoyed the

management that the Metropole Jazz

and who is In charge of the headquar
ters of George A. Mansfield, demo
cratic senatorial candidate, at Port

ing train from tho north. She came
to address the Greater Medford club
at St. Mark's parish hall this after
noon on legislative matters of interest
to women generally. Tomorrow noon
she will address the chamber of com
merce forum at Ashland, which will
be conducted by women who are
membors of tho chamber of that city.

Commencing next Saturday, the
state highway between Redding and
Duiirfinuir will be closed 16 hours out
of every 24 hours thnioiit the summer
mid fall, pei Imps until the end of th"
year. The highway will be opi-ii every
day from II o'clock in the morning
until 7 o'clock in the evening. Tourist
travelers will ha.ve to govern their
movements accordingly. The daily
blockade Is due to the construction
work going 'on between Bayha and
Half Way Creek, a distance of 10
miles. Blasting will be going on and
steam shovels 'will bo at work. Tho
contractors will work two eight hour
shifts.

Three arrests were made for speed
ing Sunday on the Pacific highway by
C. P. Talent, the new state traffic of
ficer. Those arrested were Arthur
West, Chester Bennett, and Charles
Wormian. Monday morning they ap
peared here in Justice Taylor's court,
pleaded guilty and were fined $10
apiece. All three were driving between
38 and 40 miles an hour.

Last Wednesday Mrs. O. Stone and
two children went to Montague, Calif.,
to visit with Mrs. C. T. Genzel of that

Stone and Genzel motored down there
and on Sunday brought their families
to Medford. The Genzels will reside
here In the future.

be with Marshfield and will take place

C. T. Genzel, who has been In the
employ of tho Price Garage for some
time, has accepted a position with the
Riversido Garage in Medford, Oregon.
Mr. Genzel has proven himself to be
a first clans mechanic, and no doubt
the Oregon folks will appreciate his
