KITCHEN SURVEY
The home demonstration's office was
a busy place this morning when a
committee of women were engaged In
compiling tho results of a kitchen sur
vey that bus recently been started In
the county. This survey already cov
ers approximately 150 farm homes,
and as a result it will be easy to toll
what percentage of that number have
many, few or no conveniences. Fr mi
this information the women hope to
formulate resolutions showing the most
pressing needs of the farm homes in
this vicinity. The committee consist
ing of Misses Hanley and Teich, Mes
dnmes John Gammill, H. F. Whetstone,
W. Barnes Smith, Wm. Warner and A.
T. Lathrop, hopes to finish tho survey
during the month.
There are many people who still
need educating on the fact that the
whole success of the farm enterprise
centers in the home. If the mother Is
unable to attend to her multitudinous
duties the health and welfare of the
whole family suffers, and consequently
the success of the farm work is imper
illed. The most Important crop of the
farm is the children, and the best so
lution of the problem of keeping the
children on the farm is to provide a
home where they can have some of the
modern conveniences of life, which not
oitly take the drudgery out of life, but
allow .time for rest, recreation and
mental Improvement.
The committee, also asks the coop
eration of other committees and clubs
In correcting the abuso of using our
country roads as a dumping ground.
At tho forum of tho Medford Cham
ber of .Commerce, next Wednesday all
of tho representatives attending ..the
economic; conference from, tho Ore
gon Agricultural college, the Port
land end Stulc Chamber of Commerce
and the Land Settlement commission
will be guests.
No speaker has been selected, but
with the array of talent there will be
among tho guests the members ot the
chamber will bo assured of a good
program.
Those visitors will be in Medford
to ussist tho farmers and fruitgrow
ers in the formulation of a program
which will help them to attain a
greater degree of success. Attendance
at this forum will show an apprecia
tion ot their efforts.
