railway train, George Remum, Cincin
nati attorney, and twelvo men asso

key ring" are to arrive in Atlanta to
day to begin sentences after convic
tion on charges of having conspired
to violate the Volstead act.

An odd case was on hearing In
Justico Taylor's court yesterday In
which Frank J. Court, about 30 years
old, and an ex-sorvice man who is
drawing $100 a month pension and
government Insurance of $57 a month,
because of total disability, having
been gassed and wounded in Franco,
was tho defendunt on a non-support
chnrgo made by his 18 year old wife.
They aro from tho Sams valley sec
tion, and both woro in attendance at
tho hearing.
Court is suffering from a bad case
of diabetis and claims also to bo tu
bercular. They have spent much of
tho time for a year or more past in
camping out. It seems that tho couple
for months pnst have not got on
very agreeably, and tho young wife
testified that somo timo ago ho told
her that ho did 'not want her around
any more. Ho said she did not tako
good care of the camp. She then went
to live with her parents nnd has been
with them since some timo in Octo
ber and ho has been living with his
parents.
In all this time both admit that
Court had given her only $10 for her
support. Sho consulted Gus New
bury as her attorney about this time,
nnd ho and T. W. Miles, who Is
Court's attorney In the matter, got
together with the dissatisfied couple,
as a result of w-tyi-h Court promised to
pay her $25 a month out of his $157
monthly received from tho govern
ment pension and Insurance, begin
ning with next February. Tho young
wife, however. Insisted that sho should
have at least $35 a month to got along
with, but finally agreed to tako the
lesser sum.
Then recently, hearing that Court
was making arrangements to at onco
enter a government hospital in Cali
fornia for treatment, she brought the
non-support proceedings. Sheriff Tor
rlll went out to Sams Valley the other
day and served the warrant on him,
but did not bring him back as pris
oner, as Court promised to dollver
himself in court. .
Justice Taylor, ot tho conclusion of
yesterday's hearing, continued tho
case until January 29, in hopes that
tho estranged cnuplo and their attor
neys could reach a satisfactory finan
cial settlement in tho meantime.
