We happen to know that only two weeks ago a certain Democrat
not more than three thousand miles from Medford declared Henry

for the masses was bo great, that the possession of half a billion dol
lars could not smother it, and the one man who was destined, sooner
or biter, to lead this country from the clutches of the Jewish money

And yesterday this same man, in all seriousness, without the sug
gestion of the satirical touch, declared that Ford had shown himself
to be the biggest false alarm in modern political history, that he hadn't
the brains of n one-legged rooster, that he never really hud any faith
in him, but that like many other misguided citizens he had been a
victim of the Detroit billionaire V high-salaried press bureau.
The suggestion of a humorous retort was highly resented. What
if he had said thus and so, and he never hail said it, this
government by millionaires was going to be put down. . There was no
use arguing. The poor old hoy was mad, mad clear through.
And as Brother liryan s announcement today indicates, this local
example is typical of the country at large. For years the Demo
cratic party, while amorig its lendm-s, not set upon Tfy'd as a eandi
ante, mis dccii, particularly among the1 rank- and tile, extremely. sym
pathetic with the man who gave Senator Newberry such a terrificV
lacing.
And now within 48 hours, the Apostle of Dearborn has become
something rather less worthy of commendation than Judas of Iscariot
