degree murder, is Insane, according
to tho findings of a lunacy commis
sion of five alienists, made public to
day. Tomplnks confessed to George
Shaughnessy, district attorney to kill
ing his wife, whose beheaded body

strangled' her into unconsciousness
and then removed her head which he
destroyed in a furnace fire.
It is expected Tompkins will he
committed to a hospital for the (trim
