bandits who robbed the Lane county
State and Savings bank at Florence,
Ore., last Tuesday,, wero harbored op
farms of two men near Mercicr Lake
several days of last week, according
to reports received here today from of
ficers engaged in search for the rob
bers. Jack Herring and JJcls nerkrem,
farmers, are roportod to have confess
ed thoy shioltled the robbers. Ilotb

The posse passed within ten feet of
the men at one time, according to Hor

tified as Tom Murray, was said to have
planned to board a train Sunday nt

and when he resided here, nothing was
known of his alleged surplus of wives.
Regarding tho allegations, the Dead
wood Daily Pioneer-Times, prints the

Is a sheik in Deadwood whose love
affairs, rivalling the most romantic
motion picture stories, have been
waxing warm for many months and
have extended from Medford. Ora o
neulali, Wyoming, nnd Deadwood,
South Dakota. Tills "sheik" Is alleg
ed to be none other than William G,
Ross, owner and manager of the Ross
glovo factory, on'Iowcr Main street, an
establishment that has been doing bus
iness hero for the past three years.
What looks like tho culmination of
many a hard fought battle between the
two alleged wives of Ross came yester
day In the office of Judge C. E. Mc
11 ugh, at the county court house, when
Mary TC. Ross had Etfio J. Ross arrest
ed nnd placed on a peace band for
threatening to lake, her life. The case
was held over until Thursday after
noon at 3 o'clock awaiting the pres
ence of the. "star" or sheik," who' is
stuck in the mud somewhere near
Crawford, Neb., on his way overland
from Medford to Deadwood.

ed in a room on South Holly stroot,
