crowd attended the program and It is

about seventy dollars. The first num

"America," by the audience, !d hy the
Methodist quartet. This quartet con

knew nothing of their lives, or their
surroundings. Two of the guests were
hypnotized and were surprised to find
that , their faces wero covered with
soot when they wero presented with

lightful refreshments of hot ginger
hrtad, cider and salted almonds were
served by the charming hostess. A
very enjoyable evening was had by all
present and regrets that Miss Ctdllson
was leaving ho soon w ere expressed by
all.
C. C. Crowson is confined to his
house at the present time with a
sprained ankle. The accident occurred
while Mr. Crowson wan at work in
tho railroad yards, lie jumped from
a car and in some way turned his
nnklo causing the sprain. He will be
forced to be quiet for about six weeks
In order that the ankle will heal.
Henry T. Long Is also suffering from
a sprained ankle and will not be able
to work for some time. He is at the
tVninmntty hospital.

Dr. K. M. Hryan, president of the
University of Ohio, one of" the lead

and well known as a brilliant plat
form orator, has been secured as lec
turer for the annual session of the
Oregon Slato Teachers' association by
the president of tho association, Su
perintendent G, W. Ager, of Hend.
Tho convention will be held in
Portland at the Lincoln high school
on Dccembor 27, 28, 29. For tho gen
eral sessions efforts aro being made to
sccuro another speaker of equal rank
with Doctor Bryan. Tho unnual ses
sion vlll open at nine o'clock Tues
day, December 27, with a mooting of
tho representative council. Tho work
of the council, which consists of act
ing upon all official reports of stand
lug committees and of transacting all
regular and special business of the as
sociation, will occupy all of tho first
day. Only accredited delegates have
tho right to Hpeak and vote during the
deliberations of tho eouncll, though
tho meetings nro open to all visiting
teachers.
Tho general session of tho associa
tion convenes at nine o'clock Friday
morning, December 28. Tho opening
address will bo given by Dr, Bryan.
