HEAVIEST IN THE
PAST NINE YEARS
Tho outstanding feature of the lost
month's weather was the unusual
amount of Hb rainfall, which was two
inches and the largest rainfall here
since the year 1914 during which the
fnll amounted to 2.13 inches.
Not only was tho rainfall of last
month unusually heavy foi .recent
years,- but It was well scaitereu
throughout the month, so much so
that it seriously interfered with the
picking and harvesting of fruit, espec
ially of the apple crop. "In my mem-:

of the hardest months tor the picking
of fruit," says County Agent C. C.

Lake but the entire Pacific coast sec
tion, especially California, lost In him
a great and influential friend ami

ment of Crater Lake and had spent
much of his time to this end, and
would have continued to do so had he

'I had made several trips to Crater
Lake and othor national parks with
him In the past in tho intoresta of

but I deplore his loss as a personal

OBITUARY
BUCK . Charles Patterson Buck
died at bis home, 27 Tripp street, No
vember 1, ait tho age of 74 years, 2
months, 17 days. He was born at
Stanton, Hi., Aug. 14, 1849, and had
been a resident of Medford for the
past thirty-six years. He was gard
ener and caretaker for many Medford
families and was known as an Indus
trious and honorable citizen. His wife
passed away at the home Dec. 13, 1922.
He leaves to mourn his loss two daugh
ter, Mrs. Wilber F. Tupper of Fresno,
Calif., Mrs. Guy M. Moore of Rogue
River, Ore. There' are three grand
children, Kenneth, Ruth and Esther
Moore. He was a member of the Pres
byterian church for years. Funeral
services will be held Saturday at 2:30
p. m. at the Perl Funeral Home. Rev.
Leach will officiate. Interment In I.
O. O. F. cemetery.
