organization had bad, the directors
planned the season just closing as a
"guest-conductor" period. Incidental
ly, Henri Verbrugghen, first of the vis
itors, has been chosen director for the
next three years.
Following Mr. Verbrugghen's open-

brilowitsch, the distinguished pianist,
now director of the Detroit Symphony
