ball team defeated the Medford hign
school team for the first time this sea
son in the game at Grants Pass last
Saturday. The "climate" boys won
by one run. Medford has trounced
Grants Pass three times this season
and Ib now tied for the southern Ore
gon championship with Ashland, The
Ashland nine has also taken three out
of four games played with Grants
Pass.

Charles G. Thomson, superintendent
of Crater National Park, and Jack
Hemstreet who has taken care of the
lodge all winter, assisted by Pete Ord,
forest ranger, arrived in Medford litst
night from Klamath Falls. Mr. Thorn
son went In to tho lake last week from
the Klamath entrance and spent sev
eral days with HeniRtreet and Ord be
coming acquainted with 'the lake In
that portion of IU winter regulia,
which is still left.
Yesterday at 4 a. m. all three of the
men left Anna Springs camp and
walked over the frozen crust of the
snow to the Klamath entrance. Ord
remained in Klamath Falls and is re
turning to the lake today. Thomson
and Hemstreet drove to Medford by
auto and in a few days the superinten
dent will drive Hemstreet to the Med
ford entrance from which place Horn
street will make the skii trip In to tho
government camp at Anna Springs,
making a survey of road conditions,
fallen trees, etc.
Snow at tho rim is less than nine
feet deep and at Anna Springs is less
than four feet. Inhlrty hours, start
ing Friday of last week, Mr. Thomson
reports that a rain reduced the snow
depth 16 inches.
The lodge and government buildings
suffered much less than the usual
winter damage and the expense of re
pair this year will bo very slight on
all of the buildings.
Mr. Thomson expects cars to be
driving to the rim by June 20th if not
earlier. - -
