"We stopped drilling at the Trigonla
oil well because we were afraid we
might kill a Chinaman and then get In
trouble for murder," was the first
statement made this morning by E. F.
Smith, when qutioned regarding tha
halt in sinking the Trigonla. He later
qualified this with the statement that
some needed repairs had to be made
and that it was expected the drilling
would be resumed this afternoon. The
well now has a depth of 2109 feet.
