The trial of Tom L. Word, U. S. de
partment of justice agent, identified
last spring with tbe collecting of evi
dence in the Jackson county nlghtrld
ing cases, was begun before Justice of
the Peace Glenn O. Taylor this morn
ing. Word is charged under a war
rant issued on the eve of the night
riding trials last February with "being
intoxicated in a public place," on No
vember 22, 1922. An indictment alleg
ing the same offense was returned
ten days ago, by the grand jury now
in session.
