north to speak at the law enforcement
conference bolng held at the Presby
terian church today. A mass meeting
will bo held at the church at 7:30 this
evening at which Mrs. Sllbaugh and
Mr. Herwlg will speak on "Law En
forcement; the Necessity for It and
Some of the Obstacles In It's Way."

Home improvements are to be made
on 'the Southern Pacific depot plat
form and in the railroad tracks adjoin
ing, which will be begun tomorrow
and not be completed for several
weeks. A concrete curbing Is to be
established on the platform next to
the first tracks, extending from the
depot down to Main street, and f.ho
passing track will be removed to five
feet further west opposite the depot
and ft platform built in between the
main and passing tracks, to give room
for handling baggage and mall more
expeditiously.

on Wednesday and brought back the
garments which had been collected
there by the people of Phoonlx and
vicinity, for the Jackson County

and local conditions also indicated
this up until this afternoon. There
was no frost this morning because of
the cloudy weather, but at 11 o'clock

morning was quite chilly but the low
