tempt will be made In the next con
gress to increase to fifty per cent the
share of states from the sale of gov
ernment timber from reservations
within their borders.
Chairman McNary of the senate re
forestation commission In a letter to
day to W. B. Greeley, government
chief forester, said the present allow
ance of 25 per cent was not enough,
adding that because of tho impair
ment of .their taxing powers by the
forest reserves, the stutes should re
celve at least one-half of the grass
government receipts.

The first official shoot over the now
trap at the Crater Lake Rod and Gun
Club grounds on tho fair grounds was
held Sunday and a number of good
scores were made. The trapshootors
pronounce the now grounds and the
situation of the new trap one of the
