The activity of this service, which will be called the New Industries De partment, will cover the whole field of commercial development. It will work In close harmony with the cham bers of commerce of the various com munities located in tho territory served by the company. William H. Crawford, at present manager of the Department of Indus tries of the Portland chamber of com 'merce, has been placed in charge and will undertake the work of organizing this department. He will move to tho home office of the California-Oregon Power company In Medford to take up his new duties within a few weeks, as he has considerable work to complete for the Portland chamber with whom he has been connected for the last six yearB. ' . "Our organization has been influ enced to take this step," statod II. L. Walther, division manager for the power company, "largely because of the success of similar departments of leading eastern utilities. The Balti more and Ohio railroad and the .Ala bama Power company and a number of others have employed it to great advantage.
