POLITICIANS BUZZ
BUI PRESIDENT IS
ON GOLF FAIRWAY
MrXKE tsOME.
I lI'&a -I I 1 -J
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Mar. 26.
Golf and more golt was the big item
on the schedule of President Harding
here today as he, with his vacation
company, was afoot for a go at falr
9 way and green.
The remainder of the stay here will
give the president great golfing op
portunities as he had planned several
matches ahead, but the outlook for a
few conferences on matters of state
and perhaps politics loomed large.
It is not expected that Mr. Harding
will allow too great a departure from
his originally proposed program of
rest, relaxation and recreation.
Thp president found several of
those who, would not object to a con
ference with him, to have arrived be
fore him, two or three others have
come In since and more aro expected.
So far, however, there has been no
conference as Mr. Hardjng, through
the aid of Secretary Christian, is hold
ing firmly to his program of rest and
recreation.
Several matters of official business
are expected to be transacted during
the week's stay here, but It was said
to be unlikely that the presidentwould
intervene until he gets back to Wash
ington in the conflict of authority that
has arisen between Secretary Denby
of the navy and Comptroller General
k McCarl.- If the differences are not
oattlaA If lira, oAtnitiaA ihnt it ivnuUl
be necessary for the president to step
in,( not because of the importance of
the particular Issue, but because of
precedent likely to bp involved.
At the Page Tuesday
A highly effective prescription for
the "blues" compounded of human In
terest and humor by George Ade and
administered by Thomas Melghan Is
"Back Home and Broke," a new pro
duction which shows at the Page thea
tre again tomorrow matinee and night.
, The medicinal output has not only
splendid stlmulativo and sedative
powers, but passes the pure food and
drug laws (boards of censorship) with
high averages. Moreover their pro
duct is Improving, "Hack Homo and
-frtroke" surpassing In its ingredients
and preparation their first offering,
"Our Leading Citizen."
Up to a certain point "Back Home
and Broke" Is the story of the youth
who leaves the small town to win
success in the outside world. He re
turns a few years lator, apparently
ponnilesB, and buys the town with the
wealth he has accumulated.
Heading the strong supporting
cast as Mr. Melghan's leading woman
Is Lila Lee, who is well known to local
audiences.
Sea-Waif Society Wife
Perhaps you know this girl only as
Anita Stewart. But there is one story
about her you may not have heard
She Is a sea-waif, the one child saved
from a wreck. Following the death of
her guardian she came to New York
and stepped into the highest social
world and through a chain of romance
and tragedy to happiness as an un
expected wife. Of course, it happens
on the screen: In Anita's latest pic
ture,; "Hose o' the Sea," now playing
at the Rlalto theatre.
