In what was said by some to be the
strongest sermon yet preached by Dr.
Huff, the noted evangelist last night
spoke on the text, "Simon, son of
.'onas. lovest thou nie more than
these'."1 The minister said In part:
' The questions of Jesus are like great
eeareliHghls, they show the direc
t on one Is going. When .lesus stood
on thu shore of Tiberias. In the mist
of moru'iig, and said to Simon Peter, i
'Lovest thou me.1 he asked the su-!
perlatlve ciurstion of Christianity.
Christianity at its host Is a great af-j
fiction for Clod that prompts
obedience to the Heavenly rather and
service for humanity. i
"There Is no gift nor power that
you can get by divine endowment
that will hold you straight three hun
dred sixty five days in the year If you
bave not a great love for Jesus
Christ. It is Christ's test or true
discinleship. We may exalt the Sa
viour to the throne of the universe:
we may admire Irs transcendant
truth; wo may stand in awe before
h's majesty and yet not know, in
genuino real'ty. love I'or him. Peter
had forsaken all he bad, acknowledg
ed Christ's divinity, mid had said be
was w'lling to (lie, but with all he
had failed In genuine allegiance. We
nave love for creed mid love for
church, but our supreme need is a
great, vital, pulcatlni; love for Jesus
Christ.
"lie is the T?reat lover who must
have f'rst place in your heart or no
place at all. Just as no woman
would be satisfied with a fino home,
tho best automobile, expensive cloth-,
lug and a large bank account with-
out tho love of her husband, so all of
our formal, empty ceremonies are
meaningless to Christ if our lives
show that we are devoid of a genu
ine affection for h'm.
"What do you have In our home
when love between man and wife
sotxy out You answer, "Domestic in
felicity." Let me put it plainer. You
bavo domestic hell. So If lovo for
Christ has gono out of your heart you
w'.ll not be happy."
The revival will closo Sunday with
three great, services. Dr. Huff will
speak at 11 o'clock, 3 and 7:30. At
the 3 o'clock hour he will deliver his
addresn on South America. Thi
evangelist spends seven months of
every, other year In touring South
America In evnngellBtlc work.
Out of town people anil others who
desire aro Invited to bring a basket
dinner and stay for all tho services.
