As a result of various contrluiitirm
causes, it is the belief of politic-ill ob
servers that the campaign, so far as
the republicans are concerned ut least
will be in full swing almost a year
before the nominating convention.
Not the least of these causes is the
fact that seventeen states have direct
primary laws in whic.i the delegates
to the national convention is fought
and won or lost long before the ses
sion heretofore set aside for state con
ventions. It is realized that should
the first states to hold primaries fail
to endorse Mr. Harding decisively the
reaction over the remainder of the
country might prove a very great

Attorney Ceneral Daugherty who
was the pre-conventlon manager for
Mr. Harding in 1B2U is expected again
to take a hand In urging a re-nomination.

the Nnt floor tomorrow night the lar
gest crowd of basketball funs of the
year Is expected to be on hand to see
the most interesting and the fastest
game of the local season.
Roseburg rooters, one hundred
strong are expected to arrive tomor
row by train and auto to assist their
team in making a buttle for the
southern Oregon championship and
the right to represent this section of
the state at Sulem during the state
tournament the middle of this month.
Should Roseburg win tomorrow night
a third game would have to be ployed
between the two schools to decide the
championship.
Every member of the Medford
squad Is in tip-top shape and accord
ing to Coach Durno they nre ready
for what is considered the stiffest
battle of the season.
Reserved seats for the contest will
be available tomorrow morning at 9
o'clock nt Crowson's, an added section

those fans who were unable to get

be threshed over very soon after Mr.
Harding concludes tho month's vaca
tion in Florida, for which he will leave
Washington early next week. Attor
ney General Daugherty, in whom tho
president recently has expressod
anew his complete confidence, -will be
one of the guests on the Florida house
boat trip, and after it is concluded it
is possible that Mr. Harding and at
least a part of tho party will proceed
to Ohio, which stato last November
elected a democratic government.
Later in the summer, Mr. Harding's
friends are predicting, the president
will make a speech-making trip that
will carry him to the Pacific coast and
will Include about twonty addresses.
It Is not intended to give the tour the
color of a swing around the political
circle but when he faces his audi
ences he is expected to give nn ac-
