Ray Carpenter, who pleaded guil-j
ly to a bootlegging charge three
weeks ago was sentenced to serve
three months in the county pail and
pay a fine of $400. by County Judge
Gardner today. The jail sentence
was suspended pending good beha
vior. Passing of sentence on Car
penter was "deferred a couple of
times. His place wag visited last week
by -a deputation from the sheriffs!
office with a search warrant. The
party found nothing, whereupon Car
penter issued an invitation for the
minions of the law to visit his place
any time they saw fit, in their search
for liquor.-

The audience at the Christian
(hurch last night was one of the larg
est of the special meetings and the
service of the best.
The extra musical numbers were a
duet by Mrs. Harry Walter and Mrs.
W. It. Lamb and the several selec
tions by the ladies orchestra, both
of which were extra good. The la
dies' orchestra is a-new organization
and consists of some or tho best musi

If there is anyone who is anxious
to go to jail for 30 days, he will find
several effective suggestions as to how

the Rlalto theatre which closes to
night It is the late Wallace Reid's
last picture. "Thirty Days." Reid
was anxious to go to jail to avoid be
ing murdered. Ho had considerable
difficulty in getting in, but finally
managed It. But he had a much more
complicated time getting out

what snobbish young fellow, rich,
handsome, educated..
