"I'm going back to my farm and I'm

with the smile that has won him s)
.many friends at Oregon's tourist
-Mecca. "I've been ut Crater Lake
nearly ten years and a change will be
good for us all.
Sparrow, with Mrs. Sparrow, who is

last three years and that was enough.
! We've hoped for years to get into just
such a place as Crater national park
and nobody knows how thrilling it Is
to be on the way now."
Thomson refers to that brief period
f of his life when he was a newspaper
man as his one great dark hour.
Ho spent 10 years In the Orient,
part of that time as director of the

; which are "Terry," a talo of tho Hill
people, and "The One Word," and his
new book, "Time Is a Gentleman,"

During the last three years Thom
son has spent most of his time netting
down on paper his experiences abroad
and trying to build the material into
stories.
"There's Just one thing about short
storlcV' said he, "when you write a
lot of fluff stufr, romance and love
and just swing It together and shove
it Into the mail, 11' it's any good at all
you'll probably get a good big cheek.
I But if you put your heart and soul
into a real story, an Kdlaon Marshall
Htory, for instance well the check
will be about a third of tho other."
Mr. and Mrs. Thomson have two
boys, V and 10 years of age. Mrs.

enthusiasm In the new venture. They
