"WASHINGTON,,. Jim... 15.- Sonator
McNary, chairman of the joint coiii
mitteo preparing. jthe annual- agricul
tural appropriation bill, today ut&Jcd
that the, committee had adopted his
amendment appropriating approxi
mately $150,000 for the extension of
the dally market news service to the
Pacific Coast.
The market news service, the sena
tor said, is the collection and disse-i
mination of news concerning prices,
movements of products to the mar
kets and market conditions in gene
ral. " Tho means of communication is
mained by a leased -wire service. At
the present time, this service is in use
in! the New Kngland states and most
of the southern ;and middle states,
a lid has proved to be of incalculable
vajue to ,lho farmers living in the
served areas of the country. At this
time, the service does not extend be
yond Omaha, Nebraska, and the ap
propriation in question will permit it
to be extended through the inter
mountain states to the Pacific Coast
from southern California to northern
Washington. The two principal sta
tions will be located at Han Fran-L-iffco
and Portland. -
Theue has been a strong and insis
tent demand throughout the unserved
portions of the country for this ser
vice, including the demand from The
Mail Tribune for tho news to broad
cast over the Virgin radio, and Sen
ator McNary said he would try and
hold tho amendment in the senate
and in conference.
The . four principal lines of agricul-'
t ural prod uction livestock , f ru its
and vegetables, dairy and poultry j
products, hay, seeds and cereals, are
included in the service, which not
only seeks out market movements,
but reports upon the sprend In price i
ouotatiuns, and covers tho entire sub-
ject of various grades and qualities, ,
where congestion prevails, and other
news that bears upon the market
situation. '

MEETING BREAKS
UP !N BIG ROW
PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 16. The
meeting of the Pacific Coast Baseball
league broke" up here today when di
rectors representing the Oakland, Los
Angeles, Salt Lake City L and Port

refusal to vote on a, refusal granting
the Vernon club ' equal territorial

Los Angeles. V
When president W. H. McCarthy
put the resolution to avote. Vernon.
San Francisco. Seattle and Sacra
mento voted for it, but the other four
clubs refused to vote. President Mc
Carthy announced it had been car
ried, 5 to 4, then corrected himself,
saying five to nothing, his own vote
making the fifth affirmative.
J. Cnl Ewing of the Oakland club
then said: . "As long as you are
adopting these high-handed methods,
you had better run tho league your
self." f
Following this declaration, Jlhe
representatives of the four objecting
clubs walked -but and after their de
parture the meeting formally ud
journed. EMUNSON BOXING
CLASSEASUGGESS
The boxing classes conducted by
Jack Edmunson at the old Drown
gymnasium are proving a big hit
among the boys who have taken ad
vantage of this opportunity to master
tile art of" self-defenso according to
members.
These classes consist of the younger
blood of some of the most prominent
families In Medford. Doting mothqrs
and fathers are very much enthused
with the results these dally classes
are bringing.
Says Mr. Edmunson, "Every day In
every way we are growing strongor
and Btronger."
Mr. Kdmiinson is considering an
t pon day for visitors in the near fu
ture, and tho public will be invited
to seo the youngs.rs snow their
wares. Mr. Edmunson is also con
sidering a class' for grown tips ex
clusively, ,and this will he a great
opportunity for some of the older
set to reduce their waist; lines ami
at the' same time have a lol of fun.
