Jins decided to ive up the ministry
temporarily, owing to.his heaitU.'aBd
will retire as pastor of the CfcristlsB
ehurch on March 1st, or Before if the
church secures another pastor..
Mr. Millard lias -.been considering
this move for some months and about
three weeks ago gave his resignation:
to the church, which was unanimously
rejected by the board first and then by.
the congregation, but decided definite-'
iy this week to retire temporarily. '
On March 1st next Mr. Millard will
have been pastor of the First Christian
church for four years and with Mrs.
Millard, who Is a wonderful worker in
all departments and an able assistant
to her husband, has built up . the
local church until it is now one of the
leading congregations both in Medford
and in the state. During their pastor
ate here the membership, as well a
he spirituality of the members, has
greatly increased and the mortsaBe on
the church paid off. Their work with
the younit people has been' unusually 1
successful and it is an inspiration to
gee the large number of young men
and young ladles who are active in the
different departments of the church.
Mr. Millard is one of the best minis
ters Medford has had for many years,
but his Buccess is not due wholly to
that. . His personality, his pastorlal
work and hi3 musical talent have been
great aids 1 to him. He possesses a
splendid voice, plays on several instru
ments and is a composer of a number
of songs. - . -
At present the chdrch has an orches
tra of 7 or 8 pieces' that plays every
Sunday evening as 'well as a male
quartet, soloists and a splendid choir
of young people. :
Mr, Millard has always been active
in the civic life of the city, is com
poser of the chamber of commerce
songs and is their song leader. He
has also been active with the Boy
Scouts and other organisations. "
Mr. and Mrs. -Millard will remain
in Medford, much to the delight of
t .iir many friends. They own city
property and a ranch. ' .-,.
