presented his resignation today to

Poland's new chief executive, in con
formity with constitutional practice.
The new president refused to accept
the resignation and General Sikorski's
cabinet remains In power.
The president, in his first message
to the Polish nation, pleads for union,
harmony and peace between the vario-
ous parties. He stigmatized the assas
slnation of his predecessor as an act
of political hatred and calls upon the
nation to follow the dignity and
strength of its traditions. He promised
liberty and Justlco to all who are faith
ful to the constitution.
