official channels for American Inter
ference to obtain u revision of Gorman
reparations schedules appearing In
London dispatches of the Associated
Press throw the first definite light on
the method by which American Influ
ence Is being drawn Into an attempt at
final adjustment of tho vexiug repara
tions question.
There Is reason to believe that pre
vious government reports from Iierliu
are of a character to Justify hope that
if the French should prove agreeable
to the proposed plan for reparations
revision, no Insurmountable obstacles
would remain in the way of an agree
ment as to the specific amount Ger
many could and would-pay.
The share of tho chamber of com
merce of tho United States in tho
shaping of the now proposals for ail
jUBtmont of the European tangle, It
was learned today, dates back to
executive discussion of the subject by
directors of the chamber with Presi
dent Julius Dames at the Galveston
meeting of the board last month.
