A week ago Judge Cardner spoke at the Chamber of Commerce forum and reviewed the road work that hud been,' accomplished during the past by means of county, state and federal funds. He called attention to the necessity of completing the one road that means more to the Rogue River valley in a commercial way than any other, being the road leading to Klam ath and Lake counties. It will take some $75,000 to complete this and as Klamath county has had contracts let for this road connecting up the same at the Jackson county line It behooves us to see that our portion of the road Is built. The state highway commission will cooperate in this on a fifty-fifty basis. Whenever socallod state roads aro completed, the state highway coimniv slon assumes responsibility in main taining them. When this road to Klamath Falls is finished and the bridge at Gold Hill is completed, the state then will pay all maintenance coat. In considering the forum recom mendation the directors investigated the possible effect the $100,000 bond issue would have on the completion of the Crater Lake highway. Upon bolhs assured thut sufficient funds remain to complete this highway the directors of the Medford Chamber of Commerce took the same action that was taken by the Ashland Cham ber and endorsed the bond issue as a necessary means to complete two highways and refleve the county of tho expense of repairs to same. In taking this action the directors took Into consideration that this bond issuo-wlll not increase taxes ns $100, 000 bonds will lie retired in 1923 and if the bonds full to carry that the county authorities would have tu complete the road out of general road funds leaving the county without means to do any work of the Butte Falls and other roads improvement work now partially completed. jjj"uw i.iniii'TiwNiaa! First she appears as a girl of thirteen, continually in mischief and. always Indulging In tomboy pranks. Later, after her return from boarding school, she is seen as a charming miss, with a vivacious personality.
