union, designed for the announced
purpose of lifting the Idols of the dia
mond from what it termed a position
'as "pawns of the club owners," Jo an
equal status with the club owners so
far as matters affecting the players
are concerned is roaring complete
organization, according . to an an
nouncement today by Ray Cannon,
attorney and former basebail player.
. Mr. Cannon announced that he had
been retained by players on virtu
ally every major league club and on
several minor league teams and that
he had already opened negotiations
with Samuel Gompers for bucking by
the American Federation of Labor.
Mr. Gompers, according to Mr. Can
