of 37 men who will go to trial here
August 7 on charges of participating in
the Inglewood raid early In April.
The raid resulted In the death of one
member of a band of 250 men who as
sailed the bonded winery of Fidel and
Mathias Elduayen at Inglewood and
the.wounding of two others. The man
killed was M. B. Mosher, a constable.
He and the others wore said to have
been masked.

The complaint alleges that exces
sive, lonns were made by tho three of
the' defendants, J. W., and John Kie
iqe.ns and Marshall Hooper, ucting as
board of directors' whereas five mem
bers of the board constitute a quo
rum; that loans were; made on inade
quate securities and the defendants
conspired for the purpose of opening
tne bank tor their own personal gain,
and to the advantage of tho private
corporations to which . loans were
made, and In which utter disregard
was shown tho rights and interest of
the bank and its' depositors.
It is further alleged that they
n'pide illegal loans, to themselves and
that large, losses resulted on account
of loans to insolvent and irrespon
sible persons' and corporations.
The complaint charges that follow
ing the reorganization after tho. first
'closing of the', bank the defendants
fraudulently took out of tho savings
'department valuable securities in the
sum of more than $54,000 and re
placed them With inferior securities
from the commercial 'department: of

';The reopening of the bank after Its
first, failure in February, 19.21, was
marked, by a.,-demonstration by tbe
citizens unusual in ..banking history.
Faith in Captain "Hie'mehs, founder of
the bank and pioneer citizen, was
demonstrated -by-'subscriptions which
poured 'in 'from 'all parts of the
;.county. Without, this aid. Captain
Slomens declared -at-the time, the
bank, could never, have, reopened.
.The second closing came in Febru
ary, 1022, and was marked by ugly
rumors current among depositors ami
stockholders. '

such as sewing have their work com
pleted and will get their work col
lected and packed ready for the coun
ty club agent to gather at the first
opportunity. '
Any clubs planning on having dem
onstrations at tho fair are advised to
pay particular attention to those at
tho meetings. The Washington
Poultry club meeting at the home cf '
the local leader, Mrs. Wait, will dis
