Owing to the tact that no forest pa
trol planes have landed here sinco
they passed through going north two
or three weeks ago, this office wrote
Capt. Lowell II. Smith, asking if
any planes were to bo stationed hero
and if not would this be a landing
base, and ir one or. the three, radio
stations they wero to establish In
tho state would bo put in at Med.-,
rord. This is his reply: t-
"There will bo no planes perma
nently stationed in Medtord, nor will
a radio control station be established
there, during tho present torest pa
trol season.
"This year we are patrolling state
forest principally, and only go over
national forestn during a fire crisis.
We Intend to use tho Medtord 'Held
for the purpose or taking state for-ef-ters
stationed at Medlord over their
territory whenever desired. This,
however will be delayed somewhat
pending the conditioning or the Med- '
ford landing field. At present it
mny bo necessary for tho Medford
forester to go to Rosoburg or Grants
Pass to meet patrol planes.
"Our radio stations will bo estab
lished in Salem, Eugene, nnd Rose
burg. These three stations will re
ceive messages from planes over any
part of the state forests.'
