Lake yesterday. The stage driver who

the other night from the gold dredging
plant above Rogue River. The metal
was taken out of the first rlifle. The
plant Is now operating 24 hours a day
and large values are being returned.
Between 800 and 1000 cubic yards of
dirt are being worked over dally. The
compnny has about four miles of lands

It Is reported by local fishermen that
the Bteelhead in the river are now tak
ing the fly and that the fishing is ex
cellent In the Rogue. Yesterday was
the first day that any steelhead
catches of consequence were made this
season. John Perl and family spent
the day on the river and report fair

dents respectively of the Oregon State
Agricultural college and the Univer
sity of Oregon, stopped last evening In
this city enroute to the northern part
of' the state. The two prominent edu
cators have been enjoying themselves
for the past few days at Crater Lake,
having made the trip in from the other
