"In judging the Josephine County
household exhibits at their county
fair lam year, many women made this
statement to mo, 'We should have
known before we exhibited what
poini werei to be scored,' or 'I am
sure I could have brought a Letter dis
play if I had known what standards
were required,' said Florence J'ool,
home demonstration agent.
Household exhibits at the coming

strate standards of excellence in cook
ery. In sewing and other needlework

score cards for household exhibits utj
fairs have been prepared by Mrs. Jes

nomics extension of O. A. C, and will
be available for anyone wishing copies,
at the home demonstration office.
There arc some of the standards:
"Canned Fruits: Canned fruit should
be uniform in size, shape and degree
of ripeness, carefully prepared, evenly
packed and not overcooked. It should
be clean and of natural color. Syrup
should l;e clean and not too heavy,
free from sediment and not too abun
dant. "Canned Vegetables: Canned veget
ables should be uniform in sf.e, me
dium mature, neatly packed, have a
natural flavor and color, small proior
tlons of liquid, and be firm but well
cooked.
"Jelly: Jelly should be clear, spark
ling, and with no sign of crystals, re
tain Its shape alter removal from glass
fshould be the natural color and have
me liavor or tno Trim, it should be
tender, should cut easily with a khmii,
and yet bo no firm that the angles cif
the cut edges remain. No foreign sub
stance should appear in Jelly. The
container should be clean, with a
closely fitted lid and a neat label."

sociated Press.) Wu Ting Fang,
former minister to Washington, more
recently foreign minister for Sun Yat
Sen In the disrupted southern republi
can government, at Canton, died at
Canton this morning, according to a
Renter dispatch.- '
Wu, an outstanding leader in the
politics Jurisprudence of China for
many years, remained at last reports,
loyal to Sun Yat Sen and was believ
ed to have fled Canton with the de
posed South China president. The
Reuter dispatch gave no details.

prime minister of the Peking republi
can government. After the govern
ment, as then constituted was over
thrown by Militarists, he went to

Central government in Peking, he

Northern statesmen had expressed
the opinion that Wu could do more
perhaps than any other man to bring
the north and south together. '
