PEAR PRICE ON
' DRY BASIS ILL
. ' BE $40 PER ION
SALEM, Ore., June 15.- Pear
prices In California will be $75. per
tori" for number l's and $40 per ton
for number '2's,, according J.o a dis
patch received by the Oregon Grow
ers' Cooperative association from the
California Pear Growers' association,
who named prices Wednesday. In
addition to these prices, pears that
are sold on a dry basis will net the
growers $4 0 per ton. I is believed
that these quotations will prevail
throughout California this season.
The Oregon pear situation is the
cause for considerable speculation
both in regard to price and possible
tonnage. Reports coming to the as
sociation indicate considerable spot
ting In various pear producing sec
tions, particularly in the Willamette
valley. It is thought that with the
bright prospects in the Rogue River
valley the average tonnage for the
state will be about the same as in pre
vious years'. - " .
