enterprise being undertaken in the
state than the establishment of the
Farm Home for the dependent and
orphaned children, on a lurm which
has been recently purchased by the
Farm Home Board near Corvallis," de
clares Mrs. I'nruh, campaign manager.
It is proposed to care for the chil
dren here in real homes, each cottago
being a home unit, with a mother who
will give to the homeless- children
homo, love and care.

county; Ashland district has raised
their quota some time since.,
f Mrs. Unruh, the campaign manager
! for the Farm Home board visited Med
! ford some days ago and at that time ar
ranged with Mayor Gates to take
charge of the campaign. Senator Tho
mas and other public spirited citizens
promising assistance. It is expected
that Medford and nearby cities will
raise their quota which is J1800, in
time to be available for building the
first unit which will be siarted about
July 1st. Medford, says Mrs. Unruh,
will be sure, to respond with it s cus
tomary generosity.

the big one of Prosperity Week. At
11:30, with white caps and aprons,
led by the band, the merchants will
march from Riverside and East Muin
to the city park where a big feed will
be served free to all rural residents.

hospitality of the merchants tomor
row noon.
At 4:30 a baseball game will bo
played at the athletic grounds of the
high school between the East and
West Siders.' This will be free to
everyone to enjoy. The band will be
there.

Jack Dempsey, world's heavyweight
pugilistic champion, and his ummiKor
Jack Kearns, have beon dodging a re
turn mutcli with him since Dempsey
won the title at Toledo, Ohio, July 4,
1919, Joss Willard, former champion,
today made public through the Los
Angeles Express n stutement in which
he asserts he would be ready to meet
Dempsey by next fall if a match could
be arranged immediately.
Wlllurds statement, which local
sports followers consider more or less
as an open challenge to 'Dempsey, sets
forth that Willard was at one time
signed up with Tex Rickard, the pro
moter, for a return bout with the pres
ent champion but that "Dempsey,
through his, manager, Kearns, dodged
the match."
"Dempsey and Kearns fear mo and
have been dodging a return match with
me since Dempsey won the title" Wit-
lard's statement continues.
"I haven't ulibiod my defeat at
Toledo. 1 was beaten fairly and
squarely, but 1 was never tendered a
return match. Many thought 1 was
not In condition nt Toledo. 1 wasn't,
but thnt was my fault, and that is
one of the reasona 1 want another
chance at Dempsey. 1 can beat him
if properly conditioned and- the only
