Under the able direction of Eliza
beth Gore, Hoed college senior of Med
ford, the 'Reed college chorus of over
forty trained voices thrilled a largo
audience In the college chapel last Fri
day night. Miss Gore, who has direct
ed the destinies of the chorus for the
past two years, staged one of the most
successful spring concerts on record.
The feature of the Impressive program
was the "Lorelei" by Mendelssohn, In
which Mrs. Jane Burns Albert, sprano,
sang the solo. Other numbers includ
ed the ''Spring Song" by Plnsute,
"Land Sighting," by Grieg, "Wedding
Song," by Mary Rosa and "St. Cecelia
Offertory"-by Batiste. Miss Gore will
conclude her four year course at Reed
college next Saturday, when she re
ceives the degree of bachelor of arts in
the department of English. She has
been a leader In student activities
holding Important positions in the stu
dent council, and In her class, as well
as the chorus directorship. '

reports that fishing on Four-Bit creek

locality are after a cougar which has

the next week or so.

Frank Preston ranch in the Applogato
district and the couple will spend the
summer there.
The senior class of the local high
school has decided to leave two tonnls'
courts as a i memorial to the high
school and has donated $100 for the
construction thereof. These .courts
were staked some years ago and need'
surfacing before thoy can be used. It
is hoped that they will be made ready
for use this season.
