The following item concerning a
well known Medford man appeared in
the Kl Dorado Times of Kl Dorado,
Kas., of May 15: "Splendid entertain
ment featured the regular 'weekly
meeting of the Kl IXirado Kiwanis club
at the Hotel Kl Dorado last night The
attendance was much better than has
been recorded at a meeting of the In
diana in several weeks. The principal
address of the meeting was made by
Sumpter Smith, of Medford. Ore., who
was called here two weeks ago by the
sudden death of his father-in-law,
Capt. V. L. Riley. The speaker talked
briefly on the motor car laws of Ore
gon, which are held. up as. a model in
every state in the country. Mr. Smith
also touched on several subjects, mak
ing his talk one of the most entertain
Ing heard by the Kiwanians In s num
ber of months." '
