Biggest steelhead I ever saw was
taken from the Rogue river the other
day," observed Jack Aitken of Med
ford, who arrived in Portland yester
day. "It was as long as that and
Mr. Aitken spread out his arms more
than a yard. "An immense taking of
steelhead eggs is going on at Little
Butte creek for the hatcheries. Fine
chinook are now being caught In' the
Rogue at Grants Pass, so that the
anglers at the Pass are having the
time of their lives." Mr. Aitken is
the inventor of a device for keeping
fish out of Irrigation ditches and
Montana and Idaho are now negotiat
ing for it He reports that there will
be a bumper fruit crop in the Rogue

trip on Little P.titte and brought with
him a nice catch of cut throat weigh
ing from one to two pounds each. The
fish are not biting well on flies this

The registration of automobiles In
Oregon passed the 100,000 mark on
April 30, according to Secretary of
State Kozer, which shows total regis
trations up to closing time on that date
of 100.057. This Is approximately 4500
more registrations than on the same
date a year ago. . Receipts of the de
partment up to April 30 amounted to
$2,698,723.75 as agianst total receipts
of $2,334,931.25 for the entire year
1921.
