Grave markers are being purchased
from Legion national headquarters by
Oregon posts of the American Legion.
Committees of the posts will place
these official bronze American Legion
grave markers upon the graves of
their deceased comrades on Memorial
day. Citizens will witness Memorial
day services in every community in
Oregon where one of the 110 pouts, of
the Legion is established. On Memor

of April 29th says: "People In the
downtown district stopped and gaped
here tonight at 8 o'clock, when several
white-robed K. K. ,K.'s suddenly ap
peared on Sixth street, parade to a Sal
vation Army street meeting and pre
sented to the Salvation Army a sum
of money to be expends!' for the relief
of the W. J.. Smith and John Eads fam
ilies, left destitute following the auto
accident at Medford. Monday. Follow
ing the presentation the Klansmen
mysteriously disappeared. It is esti
mated that the Klan has 150 members
here."

Pass district opened officially this
morning, when all the canals were
filled with water to serve the land
owners of the district. ater has
been in the main canals for six weeks
and crews have been at work puddling
the ditches, stopping leakage and put
ting in gates and tap boxes. About
12,000 acres of desirable lands will re
ceive their first artificial watering.

Only one railroad ticket will be re
quired for-a passenger desiring to hold
a sleeping car section beginning today,
according to announcement by Charles
S. Fee, passenger traffic manager for
the Southern Pacific railway system.
Under present rules a passenger desir
ing to hold a whole section Is required
to pay an additlonul half railroad fare.
Two railroad tickets will be required
to hold a drawing room or compart
ment as usual. Pullman fares will not
be affected by this ruling, as the pas
senger pays for the space occupied as
heretofore.
