salvation of America is Justtco to all classes."
Tlie message itself was innocent enough, but road with what ap

was much resented by other factions of tho party not sympathetic
with the ex-governor's candidacy.
Mr. Wilson promptly took cognizance of the situation by writing n

To this Mr. Tumulty responded yesterday.
"If Mr. Wilson says the message was unauthorised, then I enn

NATURE St GIFTS.
NATL'IIE took some soil and granite, anda tube of liquid
glue, and she fashioned this, our planet, back a million
years or Jwo. And she made some lakes of water, strung them,
round with wondrous skill, so the t lift-sty gent might totter to the
shore and drink his fill. Well she knew the human being would
b thirsty every day, for Dame Nature is all-seeing, as he baled
his share of hay. So she filled the lakes with water and the rivers
with the same, and the little streams that potter through the
fields, unknown to fume, and the sparkling rills that babble, and
the ponds where lilies grow, where the ducklings quack and gab
ble while cavorting to and fro. Nature knew that human critters
must be moistened well within, but she filled no lakes with bitters
and she made no streams of gin. And the rain that helps the cot
ter raise a bumper crop this year it is always made of water,
it is never made of beer. And the dew that shines so brightly in
the morning, on the lawn, cooling off the tired world nightly,
never knew a demijohn. When we're thirsty there are rivers,
meres and brooks from which to choose, but Daine Nature ne'er
delivers anything that's labeled booze.

Saints and Sinners
j The Catholic Church cannot be cliolcy in its membership; It must
accept all who desire salvation; It is net a congregation of saints ex
clusively, it also contains thoso whose lives perhaps are not at all
edifying. But for them there is hope of salvation, and she urges on
them repentance, and does not reject them. ChriHt said the kingdom
