The city council's plans for protect
ing' mid safeguarding the city water
system pipes wherever the Medford
irrigation system crosses them have
been accepted by the Kogue River
Canal company, the contractor build
ing the irrigation system. There are
seven such crossings.

A rock about two inches in diameter
crashed through thp plate glass win
dow of the Medfortl Book store en
North Central avenue this morning,
and shortly afterward a man rushed
in and told the occupants of the store
that the rock had popied from the tire
of a lwissiug auto, the driver of which
remains unidentified. The rock which
was formerly one of low station and
which was to have been used In re
modeling operations on the Medford
National Bank building, has risen and
now nestles artistically between a blot
ter and in ink well, parts of the desk
set on display in the window. The
hole in the window caused by the
entrance of the rock is four or five
inches in diameter, and a crack ex
tends from each side of the hole to the
edges of the window pane. Xone of
the articles in the window were dam

At last night's meeting of the cty
council City Suerintendent Davis was
authorized to purchase a Howard
Cooper street paving repair plant at a
cost of $430. This is claimed to be the
most convenient . street repair plant
made, and is badly needed by the city
street department in patching up de
fective and worn out paving.
