The following item in the Eugene
Guard, in view- of the fact that the
" London Follies" show here recently
charged war tax extra, for

"The 'London Follies' which played
here Saturday night, is playing other
Oregon towns for lower prices. Eugene
people who attended paid $2.50 a seat
war tax extra, while Albiiny and Salem
piices were $2. No really first class
show plays all the western Oregon
towns but the 'Follies' was billed for
Medford, Grants Pass, Eugene, Albany!
and Salem. A line in the Albany and
Salem advertisements reads: 'Eugene
and other Oregon towns paid $2.50.'
Evidently Eugene is an easy mark, or
the people can't help themselves." ;
Next week is the beginning of the
"Paint and Clean-up" campaign, so
designated by Mayor Gates' proclama
tion in this paper. The different
schools,' chamber of commerce, Great
