basket ball championship team Sunday
the team was congratulated by Med
ford business men. In concluding the
article the Tidings "says": "The boys
and Coach Hughes are very apprecia
tive of the reception' tendered them
upon their arrival here and are quite
gratified with the backing given them
during the series, both by those who
attended the games and those who re
membered them by telegrams. The
Medford chamber of commerce and
some four or five business men of that
city sent telegrams of congratulation

Legion departments of the union, hav
ing ranked in third place for the past
two months. The membership is well
over 6000, with some 25-odd posts not
yet reporting, seven among them being
the largest in the state outside of
Portland.

Applications from ex-service men of
Oregon for cash and loans under the
state aid act have reached the total of
22,222, according to a report Issued
Monday by the World war veterans'
state aid commission at Salem.' Of this
number more than 12,000 are for cash
and nearly 10,000 are for loans. The
commission has passed on 16,200 appli
cations and Is holding 3000 for comple
tion. The total of claims rejected
