tho American Ix-Bion, will begin here
ou Monday of next work when every
iE-scrvice man and woman in Med
ford and vicinity will bo enumerated,
according to announcement made to
day by Oeorse CoddlnfT, pout com
mander of Medford poet of the k
rion and vice-commander of tho wtatc.
The local part of tho census wilt be
carried on under the (Xlroction of
K'.mcr E. AVIInon, commander of Med
ford post with tho asoiHtance of the
American Legion auxiliary.
. A house to house and farm to farm
canvass of evey city block and town
Hhlp in Jackson county will be mudo.
Every - veteran Will be Interviewed,
asked 4S questions and his answers
recorded. When the national census
is complete, national headquarters of
the lesion expects to have a concise
and complete record of every man
and Woman who was in the service.
This record will be invaluable to the
legion in prusecutin? its fight for the
disabled, and for all classes of vete
rans who have unsettled claims of
adjustments to make with tho gov
era men t. In the past two years the
national service, division of the legion
has been Instrumental in settling
claims in favor of veterans totaling
more than $ 10.000.000.
Every veteran will be asked if ho
was wounded or gassed "or Injured by'

taken it up.

I veteran will make under the five
alternatives provided for in the
adjusted compensation bill will be a
'very important result of tho census.
This question is to be asked of every
ex-soidier in the community. The bill
offers the soldier hia option of any
of one of the five following provisions
for compensation: (1). Adjusted
pay for the term ot sen-ice put In,
, tNote: This feature may be elimi
nated): (2) A paid up 1 0-year insur
ance policy; t3) Expenses paid for
i vocational training: (3) A loan for
! the purchase of farm or home; (S)
(Application of a man's adjusted pay
,on .the purchase of government im
proved land.

rate of $1.00 for home sen ice and
1.2S a day for service overseas. Tho
