The initial step toward the reduc
tion, taken by representatives of all
the Armour plants yesterday, came
after five hours of deliberation by the
"shop representation" committee of
employes.

ing their revision of the tax bill, house
and senate conferees agieed today to
a corpoiation income tax rate of ll'1;
per cent, the figure fixed in the orig
inal house measure. This is an in
crease of per cent over the present
rate, but is 2 per cent less than the!
figure agreed upon by the senate.
The conferees also agreed to the
senate amendment repealing the $2l00
normal exemption allowed corpora
tions, except that this exemption
would be continued in the case of cor
porations having; net incomes of $-5,-000
a year or less.
The Semite managers receded from
the senate liquor tax amendment, and
ihp original house provision was re
written into the hill. Tills provides
for a tax of $-.20 a proof gallon on
alcohol with an additional tax of $1.-0 I
a gallon on whiskey or on alcohal
legally diverted for beverage purposes.

For the production one of the finest
sets ever used for picturo work was
built. A full sized street was con
structed, street cars installed, side
walks laid and paving put down. All
lor a few scenes, but these scenes
were of vital importance.
