PXOTC THREE 1
BALL NOT TO BE
, A report haa been going tha rounds
In Medford and some neighboring
towns that the Armistice day ball Is to
be a very formal affair. The commit
tee in charge of the big entertainment
is unable to surmise how the rumor
started as the dance Is to be conduct
ed entirely along lines followed in pre
vious Armistice day programs.
In point or magnificence of decora
tions, excellence of music and num
bers present the annual Armistice day
ball has gained a place of acknowledg
ed superiority to anything of the kind
given in Medford. Democracy has
marked these gatherings and a gen
eral spirit of wholesome fun..
'. The ball this year will begin prompt
ly at 0 p. m. with a grand inarch led
by officers of the American Legion,
dancing to music furnished by the best
orchestra obtainable will continue
until about 11 o'clock when the carni
val Bplrit will be ushered In with a
spectacular feature which will be fol
lowed by noise, serpentine and general
hilarity, until 2 a. m.
' Tho mayor and city council and
wives will bo patrons and patronesses
of tho ball and several acceptances
have been received from mayors oi
surrounding towns who have beon in
vited t attend.
'i Tho matter of decorations and gen
eral management of the big dance
which will be the climax of the Armis
tice day celebration is In the hands1 of
a committee which lias had much ex
perience in previous years and will.be
In keeping with the high standard
maintained heretofore.

ARMISTICE DAY
Following a line of march from the
corner of Oakdale down Main streot to
Riverside and return, there will pass
In review November 11th the largest
parade in point of numbers of march
ers and floats ever seen in Medford or
perhaps in this end of the state.
The National Guard, civic and fra
ternal organizations, city officials of
Medford and all surrounding towns,
ex-service men and women represent
ing every branch of the army and
navy, the auxiliary, the Red Cross and
various other bodies will step out to
the music of the G. A. R. fife and drum
corps and three bands.
Over forty floats of a patriotic, com
mercial and comic nature have been
promised, many of them coming from
surrounding towns. A committee has
been appointed to judge the floats ac
cording to classification and prizes
will be awarded in each class.
Decorated automobiles will have a
place in the line of march and visitors
will have the opportunity to view
many of the finest cars on the markot.
Military promptness will be the
order for the parade according to the
committee in charge of this feature of
the Armistice day celebration and
promptly at 1:30 Colonel E. E. Kelly,
as marshal of the day will sot the
pageant in motion.
PEOPLE ALWAYS WILL
LOVE ROBIN HOOD
The booking of Ralph Dunbar's pre
sentation of DeKovcn's "Ilobin Hood
by the management of the Page the
atre causes Inquiry as to why these
keen theatrical discerners choose a
revival at this time' when modern
musical comedies are 'so plentiful.
When questioned on the point, they
advise that they give tho public what
they want, and when "Robin Hood" is
mentioned, they generally say that
wherever there is wholesome thoatrl
cal support, adequate presentations of
"Robin Hood" at intervals have al
ways been welcomed and always will
be. They say they have no opinions of
their own; that they only reflect the
opinions , of the . peoplo who buy the
tickets, and that as long as people love
music that is esteemed as highly after
thirty years as it was when first its
harmonies went over tho footlights.
and as long as folks love beautiful
ladies and heroic men, and enjoy the
loveliest Vistas that scenic art has
ever produced, so long will people love
"Robin Hood."

The orchard heating demonstration

$vho witnessed the showing. Twelvo
heaters wero placed on nlmost an
acre of land, and the difforenco in

heaters was very pronounced. The
heaters wero placed G in a row and
about 75 feet between tho two rows,
The temperature in center of heated

outside area. To my mind this wis
a marvelous showing due to the fact
that such a small area was being
heated. One reading taken threo feet
from the heater showed a temperature
of 78 degrees. These heaters aro prac
ticallv smokeless and deserve the
careful consideration of the orchard

Done So Well,
So Quickly
The two big things you should get from an electric
iron are quick action and good work. With these
also should go low cost of operation and freedom
from repairs.
Such qualities will not be there accidentally. They
must be built in before you can get them out. This is partly
a matter of good manufacture, but mostly a matter of excel
lence of design.
That is why the
Iron, designed in the light of suggestions from many women,
has those good qualities that have made it so well-liked.
This is the iron that produces so much good work, so quickly.
Its construction and advantages will be gladly explained to
you by any of the following dealers:
