This wag chicken day at the public
market, not by rearrangement, but
Just because so many farmers anil
poultry raisers decided to bring chick
ens to sell at the market, and it so
liuppened fortunately that the people
of the city were chicken hungry. Prob
ably more chickens were sold this mor
ning at the market than on any one
day ever before including the days be
fore Christmas, Thanksgiving and
other holidays. As the chickens began
to pile up this morning ft was at first
feared that the supply would greatly
exceed the demand, but the patrons be
gan to buy poultry so briskly that by
9:30 a. m. there were only 10 chickens
left:-'

It Is the Intention of the exe'eave
comlniitee of the Red Cros3 that no
person able to do something to heli
his. 'fellow man . in Medford be overlooked-
during the campulgn.- Medford
has no associated charity organization
as many other places in the country
maintain but is fortunate in having
one of the best organized Red Cross
home service departments, which does
a much more comprehensive work.
The subscriptions will be made on
pledge cards furnished by the solici
tors and will be on the monthly basis.
In this way no one will be asked to
Impose any burden on himself In order
to give to the worthy cause, the only
opportunity of the kind in Medford. It
is the intention of the committee to
publish names of 'the subscribers in
alphabetical order. Every right think
ing citizen will no doubt recognize his
duty, which should; assure a list of
many hundreds of names.
Pledge cards will be left at all of the
banks in order that anyone the com-,

the Red Cross. These funds on the
monthly subscription basis will all bej
used in Jackson county to relieve dis-i
