gin of one vote, the Walth amendment '
proposing a graduated income tax on ;
corporations was rejected recently by j
the senate. The vote wae 23 to 32 with i
ten republicans standing with the solid i
democratic minority for the amend-'
ment. I

WASHINGTON. Oct. 31 The way
was paved Saturday by Senator Reed,
democrat, Missouri, to force a vote on
the soldier bonus bill, which the sen
ate recently laid on the table at the
request of President Harding.
Senator Keed introduced an amend
ment to the tax revision bill providing
for taxes on excess profits of corpora
tions and for use of the revenue de
rived as a special fund to pay bonuses
to former service men. The amend
ment included the MeCutnbcr bonus
hill, reported by the senate finance
committee, providing for five way ben
efits to former service men.
