lamette valley this week by County
Agent Cate will be sold at private sale
tomorrow afternoon at the Gitzen
stables on North Fir street. One car
load has already been sold, or rather
was purchased by Cate to fill orders
given him by Jackson county farmers
and dairymen. Many persons vieved
tho choice cattle at the stables Friday
and today, and a large crowd from all
parts of the county is expecU- to look
them over tomorrow all day. It is pos
sible that the demand for this kind of
stock will be so largo that Mr. Cate
will return to the Willamette valley
and bring one or two more carloads
here.

ness men is that E. 11. Hull, president.
and T. L. Stanley, secretary, of the
Klamath Falls chamber of commerce
have resigned their positions, the for
mer giving as his reason pressure of
other business. Both men are well
known in Medford. Secretary Stan
ley's resignation has been in the,
hands of tho board for some time past,
because of his desire to take a posi
tion elsewhere, but now he Insists on
leaving Nov. 1st.
One of the moBt remarkable develop
ments since the Uarnurn Apartments
fire is tho fact that only two of the
twenty-four occupants carried fire in

News telegraph dispatches from
Washington, D. C, state that on yes
terday an official order went out from
Washington to prohibition enforce
ment officials to stop the sale of the
materials that go into the making of
home brew. State prohibition directors
and agents throughout the country
will bo directed to make raids on busi
ness concerns that deal in articles for
the manufacture pf home brew, such
as malt, hops, fruit sugars, bottling
appliances and . the appliances from
which stills may be constructed, it
was stated at prohibition headquar
