tion as assistant cashier of the Far
mers & Fruitgrowers bank to take
tffect Oct. 10th, and soon thereafter
lie will leave to spend the winter at
Pasadena and Modesto, Calif., Phoo
nix, Ariz., and with a visit to the
Grand Canyon. In the spring he will
leave for Queen City, Mo., where he
formerly resided, to reside there. Mr.
Shirley has been connected with the
Farmers & Fruitgrowers bank for two
years, during which he has made many
friends by his affable and courteous
demeanor.

The first high school interscholastic
football game of the Rogue River val
ley was played at Grants Pass this
afternoon, beginning ut 3 o'clock, be
tween the teams of Ashland and
Grants Pass, the score of which will be
anxiously awaited by the Medford high
student body. The local team meets
both of these teams later in the sea-
ton. Ashland was defeated by Klam-J
atli Falls high last Saturday by the
score of 17 to 7.
